The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Wednesday was a mediocre 88-84-128 as the TSX Venture Exchange leapt 12 points to 742. Rough diamond prices were unchanged last week, according to Paul Zimnisky's global rough diamond price index. Mr. Zimnisky tweaks the older data as new information comes in: The index now shows that a slight, 2.3-per-cent increase from the early April low peaked in early August, with prices now nearly 1 per cent lower.
Grenville Thomas and Ken Armstrong's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR), down one-half cent to six cents on 13,000 shares Tuesday, will have a new pair of eyes looking at its Naujaat diamond project in central Nunavut, says Peter Ravenscroft, managing director of Australia-based EHR Resources Ltd. That company, which has an option to earn a 40-per-cent interest in Naujaat -- and perhaps 60 per cent in a second stage -- has just hired George Read, who for the past 17 years has been the indefatigable senior vice-president for Ken McNeill's Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM: $0.21).
