The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Friday was a cheerful 96-56-148 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose five points to 633. Bernard Tourillon's HPQ Silicon Resources Inc. (HPQ) gained 4.5 cents to 28 cents on 9.49 million shares. HPQ had been flatlined near eight cents for the past two years but has had an exciting spring, first dipping to five cents in March then soaring on heavy volume, reaching a high of 31 cents today.
Glenn Kasner's RJK Explorations Ltd. (RJX.A), down 1.5 cents to 18.5 cents on 80,000 shares, has resumed drilling for kimberlites on its properties in the Cobalt area of Northeastern Ontario. Mr. Kasner, president and chief executive officer, says that several geophysical and geological targets supported by indicator mineral geochemistry will be tested in the Paradis Pond area. That is where the company drilled a target that, after geologists initially took a glum view of the drill core, was finally assessed to be tuffisitic, sandy kimberlite diatreme breccia. Better yet, a 22.4-kilogram batch of the rock produced 18 microdiamonds and "excellent kimberlite chemistry."
