The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Thursday was a positive 72-70-161 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell fractionally to 571. Ken MacNeill and George Read's Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM), which reeled to a 27-cent low a week ago, continued to recover today, adding one cent to 45 cents on 693,000 shares. The stock remains below its eight-year high of 53 cents, as investors await word of the FalCon joint venture that Rio Tinto says it has entered, but which Star appears to be challenging.
Laura Lee Duffett's Tres-Or Resources Ltd. (TRS), unchanged at 8.5 cents on 7,000 shares Wednesday, is seeking ways to press ahead with a modern exploration program at the old Guigues kimberlite, 10 kilometres east of Lac Temiskaming in Quebec. After a decade of planning, Tres-Or finally raised enough cash to drill the pipe late last year. The five-hole program, completed from two sites, produced about 1,400 metres of kimberlite core; rock that has been shipped to a secure location in Edmonton for logging and cutting, ahead of its journey to a lab for diamond counts and geochemical analysis.
