The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Tuesday was a cheerful 96-63-141 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose nine points to 586. Rough diamond prices rose 0.2 per cent last week, according to Paul Zimnisky's global rough diamond price index. Prices are up about 1.5 per cent from their early April low but remain down 12.5 per cent over the past year, with nearly all the decline coming since mid-January.
Grenville Thomas and Ken Armstrong's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR) closed unchanged at 6.5 cents on 20,000 shares. The company has been quiet because of a lack of cash, not a lack of prospects, but there are signs that another bulk sample of its Q1-4 kimberlite, on the Naujaat property in central Nunavut, may go ahead next year. Three weeks ago, the company granted an option to earn a 40-per-cent interest in the project to Peter Ravenscroft's EHR Resources Ltd. Now, EHR has launched a placement that should cover the cost of the program.
