The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Thursday was a so-so 91-74-135 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose 10 points to 554. Toby Mayo's Far Resources Ltd. (FAT) has been silent for months but today it gained one cent to seven cents on 1.73 million shares. The company is exploring for lithium at Zoro in Northern Manitoba and Hidden Lake in the Northwest Territories.
Dermot Desmond's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD), down one cent to 33 cents on 135,000 shares, has finalized its deal with Mr. Desmond's Dunebridge Worldwide Ltd. whereby it will sell $50-million (U.S.) of diamonds to Dunebridge. The first sale was to have been completed yesterday, says Stuart Brown, Mountain Province's president and chief executive officer. The "full details" -- in other words, a morsel of meat to flesh out the skeleton of information laid out earlier this week -- will be revealed when the company files its second quarter report, probably in early August.
