New York spot rebounded $27.10 Wednesday, ending the day at $1,835.60. The TSX-V reclaimed 5.58 points to 655.65 while the TSX gold edged 1.04 points higher to 283.42. Several Canadian gold miners moved lower despite bullion's advance. Newmont Corp. (NGT) lost 96 cents to $80.79 on 267,000 shares, while Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) fell four cents to $9.52 on 594,000 shares. Endeavour Mining PLC (EDV) was stronger on the other hand, adding $1.13 to $28.82 on 1.17 million shares.
Mike Sieb's Getchell Gold Corp. (GTCH) leapt 8.5 cents to 47 cents on 442,000 shares on word that it has drilled a 51.9-metre interval averaging 5.4 grams of gold per tonne in the high-grade North Fork zone on its Fondaway Canyon project in Nevada. Two higher-grade intervals padded the result. A 9.9-metre interval averaged 17.7 grams of gold per tonne, while a 5.3-metre zone just above it returned 12.2 grams per tonne. The remaining 36.7 metres of rock averaged just 1.1 grams per tonne.
