Canadian gold miners moved little from Monday's close in the absence of major news. Collin Kettell's New Found Gold Corp. (NFG) added nine cents to $7.29 on 145,000 shares. The company gained ground yesterday on word of new assays after an all-too-long silence. Today, the company is sporting a new officer but is bidding adieu to one of its more enigmatic directors.
The new arrival is Ron Hampton, who has been appointed chief development officer. He previously worked with Centerra Gold Corp. (CG: $10.11), where he oversaw a "feasibility study and pre-execution planning" for a $600-million gold and copper mine in Northern British Columbia and a $1.2-billion operation in Colombia. Mr. Hampton was "very excited" to be joining New Found Gold and he is "looking forward to the challenge of accelerating the Queensway project" through advanced exploration, permitting and on to development.
