The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a so-so 81-79-150 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose four points to 583. Lawrence Page and Joseph Kizis's Equity Metals Corp. (EQTY) rose one-half cent to 19 cents on 227,000 shares while Andy Rendle's Cosigo Resources Ltd. (CSG) added 1.5 cents to six cents on 8,000 shares when it last traded on Monday. Cosigo is exploring for gold in southeastern Colombia while Equity is "fast tracking exploration" for precious metals in central British Columbia.
Neither company appears to have anything in common other than a shoestring share price, but they do -- both cling to a minority interest in DHK Diamonds Inc., a onetime major player in Canada's diamond hunt. Equity holds a 43.4-per-cent interest in DHK and Cosigo owns a 13.26-per-cent share, leaving another 43.4-per-cent portion unaccounted for. (It belonged to the late Adolf Petancic's Dentonia Resources Ltd., but that company succumbed to bankruptcy just after Mr. Petancic died of brain cancer in 2013.)
