The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a weak 64-116-130 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell nine points to 584.Consolidated Lithium Metals Inc. (CLM) fell one-half cent to 6.5 cents on 3.78 million shares, its busiest day since dropping its former name, Jourdan Resources Inc., in late June.
Terry Tucker's Southstone Minerals Ltd. (SML) was unchanged at 1.5 cents on 5,000 shares Tuesday and did not trade today. The company's 43-per-cent-owned subsidiary, African Star Minerals Pty. Ltd., has three new contractors to mine and recover diamonds at its Oena mine in northwestern South Africa. The three contractors -- limber up your tongue here -- Zandfontein Delwery, Blouruq Diamante and Triangle Mining, will each get a separate portion of the Oena alluvial area to mine.
Zandfontein will mine Sandberg, Blouruq will dig at Oena and Triangle will work Blokwerf, but all three independent operators will funnel the mined gravels to a centrally located processing plant. The mining began last month and Mr. Tucker, president and chief executive officer, cheers that the first diamond sales from the new arrangement are expected in November.
