The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Thursday was an upbeat 105-66-129 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose five points to 975 while polished diamond prices fell 0.1 per cent today. Ken MacNeill's stalled Saskatchewan diamond promotion, Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM) treaded water again today, losing one-half cent to 18 cents on 91,000 shares. A new cash-up is anticipated, as a Yuletide private placement at shoestring prices has been a regular order of business for several years running.
One old diamond explorer, Jim Cambon's Hudson Resources Inc. (HUD), closed unchanged at seven cents on 362,000 shares today. The company is going back in time for its future promotion, although resurrecting its old Garnet Lake diamond project in Greenland appears a no-go. Nine years ago, after a few years of inaction at Garnet Lake, then president and chief executive officer, Jamie Tuer, said that his company had "annexed and relinquished the ground around the Garnet Lake diamond discovery." A cursory look at the relevant maps showed much relinquishing but little annexing of ground onto Hudson's Sarfartoq property.
