The Financial Post reports in its Thursday edition that a Teck shareholder says the company is worth more than what Anglo American PLC has agreed to pay, and a sweetener might be needed to cinch one of the biggest mining deals ever. A Bloomberg dispatch to the Post quotes analyst Alex Garriock at Canoe Financial, which owns 0.5 per cent of the Vancouver miner saying, "We think that the value of Teck Resources is higher than what is implied by the deal price." That stake is worth about $130-million based on Teck's price of $54.29 in Toronto. "So we think that a higher price might be required to get it across the line," he told Bloomberg. Shareholders would probably welcome a bidding war, Mr. Garriock added, without speculating about the identity of possible interlopers.
