The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Aug. 2, edition that Desjardins Securities analyst Jerome Dubreuil has reiterated his "hold" recommendation for BCE. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Dubreuil increased his share target to $51 from $48. Analysts on average target the shares at $48.99.
Mr. Dubreuil says in a note: "With more challenged ROIs in telecom, we are encouraged to see BCE pulling several levers to adjust its spending plans to protect FCF. In light of the update, we believe BCE can achieve its annual EBITDA guidance as it realizes savings incremental to its workforce reduction program. We also model 2024 FCF above consensus. Nonetheless, we remain on the sidelines given (1) we see risk ahead of the TPIA decision; and (2) a material improvement in top-line growth does not seem imminent." The Globe reported on June 27 that National Bank analyst Adam Shine was sticking with his "outperform" recommendation for BCE, which was then worth $44.61. The Globe reported on July 11 that JPMorgan analysts led by Sebastiano Petti trimmed their 18-month share target for BCE by a loonie to $46, while maintaining a "neutral" recommendation. The shares were then worth $43.28.
