New York spot gold fell $0.80 to $1,490.70 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 1.64 points to 542.43 while the TSX Gold Index added 0.83 point to 238.79. Endeavour Mining Corp. (EDV) helped lead Canadian gold miners lower today. It fell 40 cents to $23.22 on 157,000 shares. McEwen Mining Inc. (MUX) went the other way, adding five cents to $2.11 on 470,000 shares.
Michel David's Walker River Resources Corp. (WRR) lost another one-half cent to seven cents on 1.85 million shares. The stock had a tough day Thursday, dropping 2.5 cents to 7.5 cents on 2.05 million shares after the company received assays of up to 1.37 grams of gold over 33.5 metres from drilling at its Lapon gold project in Nevada. The assays from the three other holes also indicated gold, but with lesser amounts and shorter intervals. One returned 0.64 gram per tonne over 21.3 metres and a third managed 0.76 gram per tonne over six metres.
