New York spot gold rose $9.30 to $1,490.00 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange slipped 2.14 points to 539.05 while the TSX Gold Index added 3.04 points to 234.65. Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS) helped lead the advance, adding 41 cents to $20.92 on 445,000 shares. Premier Gold Mines Ltd. (PG) went the other way, dipping one cent to $1.83 on 1.23 million shares.
Ashwath Mehra and Paul Harbidge's GT Gold Corp. (GTT), down 14 cents to 73 cents on 1.7 million shares, has received assays of up to 0.42 gram of gold and 0.93 gram of silver per tonne, plus 0.31 per cent copper, over 625 metres at its Saddle North zone of the Tatogga project in northwestern British Columbia. The latest assays, from another five holes of a 15,000-metre drill program, have also extended the known higher-grade core of the mineralization by up to 200 metres downdip with the intersection of a 379-metre interval averaging one gram of gold and 1.42 grams of silver per tonne, plus 0.52 per cent copper.
