New York spot gold jumped $10.10 to $1,497.80 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange dipped 0.65 point to 588.51 while the TSX Gold Index rose 1.83 points to 237.30. Most Canadian gold miners followed bullion higher today. Endeavour Mining Corp. (EDV) helped lead the way, adding $1.06 to $25.50 on 909,000 shares. Detour Gold Corp. (DGC) hit a bump in the road, losing 11 cents to $19.69 on 1.49 million shares.
Shawn Khunkhun's Strikepoint Gold Inc. (SKP) fell 1.5 cents to 8.5 cents on 2.85 million shares on word that it drilled 3.87 grams of gold and 3.52 grams of silver per tonne over 11.7 metres in a hole into the Wilby zone at its Willoughby project, near Stewart in northwestern British Columbia. A deeper interval in that hole produced 1.66 grams of gold and 32.1 grams of silver per tonne over 16.55 metres. A hole into the North zone produced 3.96 grams of gold and 74.55 grams of silver per tonne over 4.5 metres.
