New York spot gold fell $1.40 to $1,212.10 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 0.87 point to 699.69 while the TSX Gold Index dropped 0.61 point to 175.84. Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG) led Canadian gold miners higher today. It added 15 cents to $8.92 on 691,000 shares. Premier Gold Mines Ltd. (PG) went the other way, dropping 14 cents to $2.19 on 891,000 shares.
David Schmidt and David D'Onofrio's White Gold Corp. (WGO), up three cents to 74 cents on 211,000 shares, has received assays of up to 6.9 grams of gold per tonne over 32 metres at Golden Saddle on its White Gold project in Yukon. Included within that zone was an 18.4-metre interval that averaged 11.08 grams per tonne. A second hole yielded 4.6 grams per tonne across 44.9 metres, helped by a 17-metre interval that averaged 8.57 grams per tonne. These are the initial assays from the company's $9-million exploration program this year. The company is seeking to expand upon existing deposits and discover new zones of mineralization. The first holes, which probed underexplored areas in the Golden Saddle area, appear to have produced the desired return.
