New York spot gold rose $3.10 to $1,210.30 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 1.19 points to 700.86 while the TSX Gold Index lost 3.68 points to 176.08. Most Canadian gold miners moved lower today. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM led the retreat. It fell $1.48 to $52.51 on 1.79 million shares. Alacer Gold Corp. (ABX) added one cent to $2.68 on 1.61 million shares.
Gary Cope's Dolly Varden Silver Corp. (DV), down three cents to 49 cents on 37,000 shares, has received assays of up to 161.4 grams of silver per tonne over a true width of 7.75 metres at Bonus, a new mineralized zone north of the Torbrit mine on its Dolly Varden silver project in northwestern British Columbia. The assays, which also included modest amounts of lead and zinc, are from the first batch of 10 holes in the company's 2018 drill program. The company also hit 248.4 grams per tonne of silver across a true width of 8.07 metres in the Torbrit North zone, helped by a 1.94-metre interval that averaged 559.5 grams of silver per tonne.
