New York spot gold lost $0.10 to $1,290.20 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 0.47 point to 781.50 while the TSX Gold Index fell 1.15 points to 186.56. Guyana Goldfields Inc. (GUY) led the small slip, dropping 18 cents to $4.97 on 688,000 shares.
Peter Berdusco's Guyana Goldstrike Inc. (GYA), down one-half cent to 29.5 cents on 181,000 shares, has received assays of up to 7.45 grams of gold per tonne across two metres of trenching in the Paunch area of its Marudi project in Guyana. The assays are the first from the 2018 exploration program. Mr. Berdusco, Guyana Goldstrike's president and chief executive officer, says that he is very pleased that Paunch, the initial focus this year, has "returned significant gold values and even high grades." (The 7.45-gram-per-tonne result at Trench A was the highest grade, while the 0.38-gram-per-tonne value over 10 metres at Trench B and the five metres averaging 0.64 gram per tonne at Trench C apparently qualify as significant.)
