New York spot gold gained $3.30 to $1,325.90 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 1.35 points to 829.05 while the TSX Gold Index added 1.89 points to 183.85. Endeavour Mining Corp. (EDV) led Canadian gold miners higher, adding five cents to $24.12 on 627,000 shares. The company said today that its adjusted net earnings attributable to shareholders were $66-million (U.S.), down from $99-million (U.S.) a year ago.
John Watson and Eric Sprott's NV Gold Corp. (NVX) resumed trading after a halt called yesterday, pending news. That news disappointed the early birds, but optimism evidently rose as the day went on. The stock, which had jumped 23 cents to 54 cents on 252,000 shares before yesterday's halt, slipped to a 43-cent low today in early trading. NV Gold's stock then went on a tear, getting as high as 78 cents before closing the day up seven cents to 61 cents on 1.59 million shares. NV Gold has resumed drilling at hole ARC-6C on its Across the Valley gold project in Nevada, intending to extend last fall's 477-metre-deep hole by up to 600 metres.
