The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Thursday was a weak 71-90-140 as the TSX Venture Exchange lost five points to 614 and polished diamond prices dropped 0.1 per cent. Dermot Desmond's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD) dipped to a new nine-year low of $1.40 before ending the day down six cents to $1.43 on 1.21 million shares. There was nothing new to report, perhaps part of the problem.

Dean Taylor's perpetual trial miner, Diamcor Mining Inc. (DMI), dropped done-half cent to 23.5 cents on 5,000 shares. Mr. Taylor, president and chief executive officer, says that his company has sold another 1,407.66 carats of diamonds "recovered from continuing processing exercises" at its Krone-Endora at Venetia project in South Africa. The gems sold for just under $385,000 (U.S.), or about $273 (U.S.) per carat. The sale included just one gem-quality special, which weighed 11.57 carats, so the average sale price was encouraging.
