The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a mediocre 55-66-140. The TSX Venture Exchange lost two points to 762 while polished diamond prices were flat. Dermot Desmond's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. gained 13 cents to $4.83 on 101,000 shares. The company will reveal its second quarter results after the close. Hopefully they will be more revealing than the first quarter numbers.
Dermot Desmond and Dr. Rory Moore's Kennady Diamonds Inc. (KDI), up three cents to $3.40 on 112,000 shares, cheered the valuations for parcels of diamonds from three Faraday kimberlites on its Kennady North project, 10 kilometres northeast of the Gahcho Kue mine in the Northwest Territories. The combined 1,259-carat parcel was appraised at $109 (U.S.) per carat. The 456 carats from Faraday 3 led the way, with an appraised value of nearly $160 (U.S.) per carat. A small 76-carat haul from Faraday 1 was worth $144 (U.S.) per carat and the 726 carats from Faraday 2 were appraised at $75 (U.S.) per carat.
