The war of words between Core Gold Inc. and its former chief executive officer, Keith Piggott, has finally landed in the Supreme Court of British Columbia. The company has sued Mr. Piggott, claiming that he misappropriated money and that he arranged loans for Core Gold at improvidently high interest rates. The company further claims that Mr. Piggott falsely accused a Core Gold director of having "conned" others and of having "side deals."
The allegations are contained in a notice of claim that Core Gold filed at the Vancouver courthouse on Thursday, June 13. The lawsuit comes after Core Gold fired Mr. Piggott on March 10, 2019, citing undisclosed dealings in Ecuador. At the time, the company had little to say about the matter, making vague statements about activities that "were in breach of Core's contractual obligations."
