New York spot gold leapt $22.00 to $1,302.60 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 11.18 points to 604.56 while the TSX Gold Index rose 4.30 points to 181.21. Most Canadian gold miners were strong today. Iamgold Corp. rose 24 cents to $4.07 on 3.65 million shares while Yamana Gold Inc. (YRI) put on 18 cents to $3.41 on 6.7 million shares. Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) traded briskly but lost four cents, closing at $3.54 on 2.01 million shares.
Walter Coles's Skeena Resources Ltd. (SKE), up one-half cent to 29 cents on 672,000 shares, has received assays of up to 4.07 grams of gold and 122.3 grams of silver per tonne over 92.15 metres from the 22 zone at its Eskay Creek project in northwestern British Columbia. The lengthy hit included a 14-metre interval that averaged 20.1 grams of gold and 321.6 grams of silver per tonne. The phase 1 drill program produced two other long hits in the six holes, including 2.16 grams of gold and 138 grams of silver per tonne over 73.1 metres. (About 20 holes had been planned to increase the resource in the 22 zone; only six had been completed when winter set in.)
