The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Wednesday was a mediocre 80-82-138 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose fractionally to 592. Patrick Power's Arctic Star Exploration Corp. (ADD) closed unchanged at 3.5 cents on 2.18 million shares. Investors are weary of waiting for news from the company's Timantti diamond project in Finland. In mid-July, the company said that it had trenched into two new kimberlites on the property but since then, silence reigns.
Grenville Thomas and Ken Armstrong's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR) closed unchanged at six cents on 6,000 shares. The company has arguably become Canada's main diamond explorer, partly through its dogged persistence, but mainly because most of its rivals are scaling back or leaving the field entirely. This week, North Arrow raised a bit more cash for its grassroots diamond hunt at Loki, south of Lac de Gras in the Northwest Territories, by closing the sale of an additional royalty covering the project to Umgeni Holdings International Ltd.
