The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Friday was a cheerful 85-52-157 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose three points to 591 and polished diamond prices remained flat. Sherritt International Corp. (S) rose 1.5 cents to 30.5 cents on 8.16 million shares. The company said after the close Wednesday that it would reveal its second quarter results on July 31. The market appears bullish about Sherritt for a change. Nemaska Lithium Inc. (NMX) also had a good day, adding 8.5 cents to 30.5 cents on 26.95 million shares on word that it has a tentative solution to its cash crunch.
Grenville Thomas and Kenneth Armstrong's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR: $0.07) has begun preliminary work ahead of a possible winter drill program at its Loki diamond project, south of Lac de Gras. The company staked Loki a few years ago, seeking kimberlites believed to be the source of promising indicator mineral chemistry in the area. (North Arrow is a passive partner with Dominion Diamond Mines Ltd. on the big LDG property just to the east, and it was a partner with Arctic Star Exploration Corp. (ADD: $0.04) on a play just to the northwest several years ago.)
