The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Thursday was a rousing 105-73-122 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose seven points to 622 and polished diamond prices were flat. Samer Khalaf's Tango Mining Ltd. (TGV) lost one cent to 1.5 cents on 7.77 million shares. There has been no recent material news from the normally thin trading Tango, which does spike to over one million shares once every several months or so, usually for no apparent reason.
Patrick Power's Arctic Star Exploration Corp. (ADD), down one-half cent to 4.5 cents on 82,000 shares, has raised just under half of the $600,000 that it is seeking for continued work on its Timantti diamond project in east-central Finland. The company has sold 5.84 million of the 12 million shares it is offering at five cents in a first tranche of the continuing placement. Mr. Power, president and chief executive officer, says that Arctic Star "intends on completing additional tranches" of the placement. In other words, the shares are not flying off the shelves.
