The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Wednesday was a weak 71-93-150 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose fractionally to 615 and polished diamond prices were flat. Ken MacNeill and George Read's Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM) lost one-half cent to 24 cents on 227,000 shares. The stock, a tired 20-center for the past several years, got close to the 30-cent mark four weeks ago but it is slowly retreating. Shore's long-term retail shareholders are annoyed to learn that Mr. Read, the company's vice-president of exploration, sold 250,000 shares over the past week. He still holds 1.74 million.
John Jewitt's New Nadina Explorations Ltd. (NNA: $0.08) is clinging to its Monument diamond project on the south shore of Lac de Gras in the Northwest Territories. The company made a big push on the project in the mid-2000s but has accomplished little since the 2008 recession. While the company is reluctant to abandon the project, its recent promotion of Monument has been no more active than its exploration effort over the past decade.
