The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Thursday was a so-so 80-78-146. The TSX Venture Exchange rose fractionally to 593 while polished diamond prices edged lower. Mark Smith's Largo Resources Ltd. (LG) gained five cents to $2.85 on 1.43 million shares. The Brazilian vanadium miner is well off its November high of $4.66, but it is still reaping the rewards of strong vanadium oxide prices.
James Bruchs's Tsodilo Resources Ltd. (TSD: $0.30) has revised the modelling of the diamond population within the BK16 kimberlite, in the Orapa district of Botswana. This is a rethink of the size frequency distribution, and the resulting modelled diamond grades and values, which had initially been completed in November. Tsodilo now says that in December, its consultant, Dr. Paddy Lawless, "discovered that the size frequency model that he utilized resulted in an overly optimistic projection of grade values."
