The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Monday was a weak 61-73-170 as the TSX Venture Exchange gained two points to 598. Rough diamond prices edged lower to start the week. While prices are up about 0.4 per cent over the past month, they are off nearly 2 per cent in the past three months, 4 per cent over the past year and 5.4 per cent over the past five years.
Stornoway Diamond Corp. (SWY), down one-half cent to 20.5 cents on 607,000 shares, has two new directors: Hubert Lacroix and Angelina Mehta. Patrick Godin, Stornoway's new president and chief executive officer, lauded Mr. Lacroix's background in business and law, and his experience as president and CEO of Canada's public broadcaster, CBC/Radio-Canada. (He may feel right at home with Stornoway, which is looking more and more like a Quebec crown corporation each day, thanks to the company's financial troubles and the Quebec government's willingness to buy more stock.)
