The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Friday was a mediocre 70-83-151. The TSX Venture Exchange rose fractionally to 595 while polished diamond prices edged higher. Adriaan Bakker's Vanadiumcorp Resource Inc. (VRB) closed unchanged at seven cents on 1.74 million shares. The company has been an active trader for the past several days. It dropped a cent to eight cents on 2.2 million shares a week ago and it closed unchanged at six cents Tuesday on 2.36 million shares. The company has been silent for over a month. It has a vanadium prospect at Lac Dore in Quebec, but it had to retract its resource estimate and preliminary economic assessment at regulatory request late last year.
Grenville Thomas and Ken Armstrong's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR), down 1.5 cents to 9.5 cents on 15,000 shares, has new microdiamond counts from its Q1-4 kimberlite on the Naujaat project, just north of Naujaat in central Nunavut. The diamonds, from five distinct phases of kimberlite weighing a total of 2.12 tonnes, included 40 stones larger than a 0.85-millimetre sieve. Those gems weighed 0.505 carat, for a sample grade of 24 carats per hundred tonnes.
