The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on an abbreviated Christmas Eve session was a so-so 66-79-145. The TSX Venture Exchange added two points to 532 while polished diamond prices edged lower. Matt Manson's beleaguered Stornoway Diamond Corp. (SWY) continues to trade actively as it hits new lows. The stock, $1.34 in the fall of 2016 as mining was ramping up at its Renard mine, closed today up one-half cent to 18.5 cents on 583,000 shares. Renard has had its teething problems over the past two years -- enough to make an orthodontist shudder -- but the company thinks the worst is behind it.
Dean Taylor's Diamcor Mining Inc. (DMI), unchanged at 27 cents on 2,000 shares, has more diamond revenue from its Krone-Endora at Venetia diamond deposit in South Africa. The company has recovered and sold another 1,905.07 carats for just over $300,000 (U.S.), or $158.60 (U.S.) per carat. The company recovered another 351.45 carats that will be included in its January sale.
