MANULIFE FINANCIAL CORPORATION DECLARES DIVIDENDS

Manulife Financial Corp.'s board of directors has declared a quarterly shareholders' dividend of 13 cents per share on the common shares of Manulife Financial Corp., payable on and after Dec. 21, 2009, to shareholders of record at the close of business on Nov. 17, 2009.

The board also declared dividends on the following non-cumulative preferred shares, payable on or after Dec. 19, 2009, to shareholders of record at the close of business on Nov. 17, 2009.

• Class A shares Series 1 -- 25.625 cents per share;
• Class A shares Series 2 -- 29.063 cents per share;
• Class A shares Series 3 --28.125 cents per share;
• Class A shares Series 4 -- 41.25 cents per share;
• Class 1 shares Series 1 -- 35 cents per share.
