Commenting on the news, Jean-Pierre Apelian, chief executive officer, declared: "Mercator Transport is committed to offer high-quality services that maintain the utmost standards of health, safety and environment. By joining ICMI, Mercator Transport reiterates this commitment and strengthens its positioning and its development in West Africa."

The code is a voluntary industry program for companies involved in the production of gold using cyanide and companies manufacturing and transporting this cyanide. Mercator Ghana Ltd. is a cyanide transporter located in Ghana and operating in Ghana, Burkina Faso and Niger.
