Heidrick & Struggles' North American Board Practice Leader Bonnie W. Gwin Elected as Board Chair for Make-A-Wish Foundation(R) of America

2009-11-23 11:00 ET - News Release

CHICAGO and CLEVELAND, Nov. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Heidrick & Struggles International, Inc., the world's premier executive search and leadership advisory firm, announced today that Bonnie W. Gwin, a Managing Partner at the company, has been named chair of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America Board of Directors. The appointment comes on the heels of Heidrick & Struggles' announcement earlier this month that Ms. Gwin, a 12-year partner of the firm, was tapped to lead their North American Board Practice.

"I can't think of anyone more highly suited for the role at Make-A-Wish," says John Wood, Vice Chairman and Global Managing Partner of Heidrick & Struggles' Chief Executive Officer and Board Practice. "As an expert recruiter of directors for corporate boards, Bonnie has an innate understanding of leadership -- particularly as it pertains to the boardroom environment. As Chair of the Make-A-Wish Foundation's Board, Bonnie will be able to put her considerable professional experience to work, while also serving an organization about which she is deeply and personally passionate."

"Over the last four years I have had the distinct privilege of serving as a member of the Make-A-Wish National Board, an organization that brings hope, strength, and joy into the lives of countless children and their families each year," says Ms. Gwin. "Being named Chair of their Board is both a profound honor and a great responsibility, one that I take very seriously. I look forward to this new challenge and to helping the Foundation continue its important work, as it enriches lives and fulfills dreams for those who need and deserve it most."

Ms. Gwin first joined the Make-A-Wish National Board in 2005. She became chair of the Governance Committee in 2006 and was selected as chair-elect in April. Ms. Gwin has also been a volunteer leader at the chapter level for the Foundation, serving on the Northeast Regional Board of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.
