The Financial Post reports in its Tuesday, July 30, edition that Canntrust Holdings former chief executive officer Peter Aceto's $8.2-million pay package trailed that of Tilray CEO Brendan Kennedy among major pot company executives. A Bloomberg dispatch to the Post reports that Mr. Kennedy was awarded total compensation of $256-million (U.S.) in 2018, ranking him second to Tesla's Elon Musk at $513-million (U.S.). By comparison, former Canopy Growth CEO Bruce Linton was awarded $2.5-million (Canadian) and Michael Gorenstein at Cronos Group was granted $824,842 (Canadian). Terry Booth at Aurora Cannabis was awarded $1.6-million (Canadian), according to company filings. Cannabis extractors have posted outsized share gains this year, and analysts remain bullish on the subsector. Key players include Medipharm Labs, Valens Groworks and Neptune Wellness Solutions. All three have seen their stock more than double since the start of 2019. Eight Capital analyst Jenny Wang says, "Extraction will be in high demand as additional cultivation comes on-line, with Valens poised to be a leading player." Eight Capital began coverage on Valens with a buy recommendation and price target of $8.25 (Canadian).
