As expected, Vancouver promoter David Sidoo has received 90 days in a U.S. jail for cheating the college admissions system. A judge imposed the term in a hearing in Boston on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 15. In addition to the jail term, Mr. Sidoo must pay $250,000 (U.S.) and serve one year of supervised release.
The jail term comes four months after Mr. Sidoo, 61, pleaded guilty to criminal charges stemming from the scheme. Prosecutors claimed that he paid to improve the scores of his children on the SAT tests when they were seeking admission to U.S. institutions. He had a Florida man write the tests in place of his sons. Mr. Sidoo is one of 50 individuals charged in the case, with many of his co-defendants being U.S. celebrities.
