New York spot gold moved higher, adding $19.60 to $2,039.00 on Wednesday. The TSX-V leapt another 5.51 points to 747.08 while the TSX gold index added 0.28 point to 407.28. Argonaut Gold Inc. (AR) followed bullion higher, adding 24 cents to $3.30 on 6.81 million shares. The company recently sold 49.6 million shares at $2.55 in a bought-deal financing in support of development of its Magino gold project in Ontario.

Fernando Ganoza and Alain Bureau's Atico Mining Corp. (ATY) jumped 11 cents to 54 cents on 1.34 million shares on word that it has drilled a 6.84-metre interval averaging 19.54 grams of gold and 224 grams of silver per tonne, plus 12.19 per cent copper and 3.7 per cent zinc, at its La Plata volcanogenic massive sulphide project in Ecuador. The latest assays, from another three holes completed into the South block, also produced a 5.66-metre interval averaging 4.14 grams of gold and 137 grams of silver per tonne, plus 1.07 per cent copper and 6.1 per cent zinc.
