New York spot gold had an off day, dropping $13.70 to $1,957.20 on Thursday. The TSX-V shed 5.4 points to 705.74 while the TSX gold index fell 8.86 points to 386.66. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM), down on an up day yesterday, was up on a down day today, adding $3.75 to close at $101.46 on 1.87 million shares. Yamana Gold Inc. (YRI) was one of several Canadian gold miners taking a hit today. It lost 29 cents to $8.56 on 6.52 million shares.
Investors reacted poorly to word that Christopher Bradbrook and Mark Wellings's Superior Gold Inc. (SGI) has bid adieu to Mr. Bradbrook, its founder, president and chief executive officer, and placed itself in a "strategic review process." In the interim, Superior is turning to Tamara Brown, an independent director for the past three years, who just happens to be experienced with "leading corporate development activities and participating in strategic review processes," says Mr. Wellings, chairman.
