New York spot gold rose $14.30 to $1,810.30 on Friday. The TSX-V rose 13.37 points to 674.95 while the TSX gold index added 10.36 points to 366.61. Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS) continued strong today. It rose $2.19 to $46.67 on 818,000 shares. Oceanagold Corp. (OGC) also had a good day, gaining 12 cents to $3.25 on 4.26 million shares.
The postman appears to be working a four-day week, or he is at least reluctant to deliver assay results to the market on Fridays. One company rallying today on glittering assays was Jacques Trottier and Victor Cantore's Amex Exploration Inc. (AMX), which added 20 cents to $3.20 on 569,000 shares on holdover enthusiasm from yesterday's news that it had drilled a 9.1-metre interval averaging 44.22 grams of gold per tonne at the High Grade zone on its Perron project in northwestern Quebec. That news sent the stock up 17 cents to $3 on 1.01 million shares yesterday.
