The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Friday was a positive 93-80-127 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell three points to 737 while polished diamond prices slipped 0.1 per cent. Would-be diamond miner, Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM), dropped two cents to 24 cents on 1.14 million shares. The company recently lost its request for an injunction but won valuable time at its FalCon project in central Saskatchewan. (Star's co-venturer, Rio Tinto, had been attempting to employ a hurry-up exploration offense that would prove costly to Star.)
Dev Shetty's Fura Gems Inc. (FURA) leapt three cents to 14 cents on 7.47 million shares on word that its majority shareholder, Michael Kuan's Dubai-based Lord of Seven Hills Holdings FZE, plans to take the company private through an offer of 15 cents per share for the 132 million of the 272 million shares it does not yet own. The offer represents a premium of 42 per cent over the company's average share price over the past four weeks.
