The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Wednesday was an upbeat 104-79-107 as the TSX Venture Exchange added five points to 747 and polished diamond prices were steady. American Lithium Corp. (LI) dropped five cents to $1.87 on 1.03 million shares. The company is inching forward with work, and jumping ahead by leaps and bounds promotionally, at its TLC lithium project in Nevada.
Bruce Counts's Lithoquest Diamonds Ltd. (LDI) closed unchanged at 5.5 cents on 8,000 shares. The company said late last week that it was placing its North Kimberley diamond project -- the play on which it went public three years ago -- on care and maintenance until financing conditions improve because of "challenging conditions in the overall diamond industry." The term "care and maintenance" suggests a lovingly nurtured child put to bed for a nap, but on Howe Street, it more often applies to a project about to be put out of its misery.
