Mark Dresner, the only person to go on trial so far in the Moneyline Brokers pump-and-dump case, has been acquitted. Judge Anthony Trenga has found him not guilty following a four-day trial in Virginia. Mr. Dresner's lawyers successfully argued that the evidence failed to prove there was any manipulative trading or any misleading promotional materials that could be attributed to Mr. Dresner.
Prosecutors had accused Mr. Dresner of aiding the promotion of Everock Inc., a subpenny mining company that was once domiciled in Ontario. They claimed that he had a role in setting up the promotion and helped draft news releases touting the company. He also transferred shares to others who were aiding the scheme, prosecutors contended.
