The defamation case between former senator Edward Lawson and The Vancouver Sun's David Baines has been set down for trial by jury on Sept. 13, 2010. At the trial, Mr. Lawson will argue that a Vancouver Sun column unfairly linked him with Ed Carter and David Ward, two promoters tried for a stock bribery scam that took place in the mid-1980s. Mr. Baines and The Sun deny the allegations, and contend that the facts of the story were true.
The case will be a rematch of sorts for two lawyers. Representing Mr. Lawson will be North Vancouver libel specialist Roger McConchie, and representing Mr. Baines will be media lawyer Rob Anderson. The two previously faced each other in a high-profile trial in 2005 after motivational speaker Tony Robbins sued The Sun for reporting that he had stolen the wife of a Langley man. After a 27-day trial, the judge ruled in favour of Mr. Robbins, but only awarded him $20,000 in damages, plus costs.

AOAG changed its name and symbol. It's now PGCR, and it last traded at $0.001. Interesting to see that PGCR purports to be involved at a high level with the "Canadian Federal Government".

2009-10-13 09:07 ET - News Release
LAS VEGAS, NV -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 10/13/09
Placer Gold Corp. (PINKSHEETS: PGCR), the "Company," is securing new renewable energy business opportunities.
PGCR is a 10% equity partner in a Joint Venture which recently lodged a high-level proposal with the Canadian Federal Government to develop a mega-scale wind project in Canada's Atlantic Coast region.
Governments are calling for a switch to renewable energy and electric cars. This proposed mega-scale project is large enough to supply 10% of North America's future electric car fleet.
The additional wind power proposed would allow Canada and America's targeted C02 emissions reductions to be met at a lower allowance cost, saving consumers an estimated $10-$20 billion per year in carbon taxes.
MULTIPLE 10GW WIND POWER MODULES
The Canadian Atlantic Clean Power project proposes to install an increasing number of wind-farms, each with 10GW output, over a 25 year period, making them the largest proposed wind power projects in the world.
Electricity would be sold to Canadian and US Eastern Seaboard markets.
The annual wind force in the lease application area is higher than other wind-farms, creating double the annual electricity output and significantly higher profitability.
The project's capital cost is estimated at 1/4 that of a nuclear, coal or conventional wind plant. The wind-fuel is free and forever.
Construction timelines are much shorter than for conventional power projects and can be completed in stages.
Potential clean energy revenues of approximately $1-2 billion per year would accrue to PGCR's 10% equity when completed.
The company has a 10% equity in the proposed project and an option to increase its equity to a 20% interest for the issuance of 25 million restricted shares.

“Bulldog's filing solicitor was Conrad Lysiak, who also routinely provides legal services for companies that turn out to be shams, many of which are based in Vancouver. Unlike Williams & Webster, Lysiak has never been accused of any wrongdoing by any regulatory body.”

A reader has passed along a fascinating piece of spam he received from Arctic Oil & Gas Corp., a tiny U.S. company with big ambitions and some interesting Vancouver connections.

Rel. 34-33244; AAE Rei. 508) COMMISSION SUSTAINS NASD ACTION AGAINST CONRAD LYSIAK The Commission has sustained the RASD's findings of violation against Conrad C. Lysiak. a compliance officer at Dillon Securities. The NASD censured Lysiak. fined him $15,000, suspended him from acting in any principal capacity for ten days and required him to requalify by examination as a principal. The Commission found that Lysiak failed to supervise tvo traders at DSI's Scottsdale office vho engaged in private securities transactions and employed fraudulent and deceptive sales practices. The Commission rejected Lysiak's arguments that he vas not the compliance officer in charge of the supervision of the Scottsdale office, that he vas only a part-time supervisor and that, at any rate, his supervision vas not deficient. Lysiak largely abdicated his supervisory responsibility vith respect to Scottsdale and consequently missed wred flagsW that might have alerted him to the traders' actions.

Interesting comments on Reugh.
He was associated with a blastfax special pump and dump called Hemisphere Gold. The blastfaxes came from a number in Issaquah, WA. Anyone happen to know any friends of his who might live in Washington State other than Lisiak?

Also, wasn't there an American involved with another Barry Reagh promotion called LITL?
Posted by Co-Conspirators in the USA at 2010-08-28 14:08
Barry Reagh is involved in pump and dumps all over the place with his partner Mitch White who was the promoter behind LITL. They just did a run on ELRA after blowing out XCEL last year. If you hear of a promotion involving Barry then short the hell out of it.

Hemisphere Gold was another Mitch White / Barry Reagh special. Mitch White lives in Point Roberts and has a house in Tsawwassen and Barry is using his middle name Duane. Both were heavily involved in the Arctic scam

Thanks, the truth is out there.
I don't understand why Governor Christine Gregoire doesn't cut a deal with British Columbia on Blaine, Bellingham, Spokane, and Point Roberts, do you? She's got a budget crisis. Why not sell those cities to the Howe Street promoters.
ELRA's an old p&d dog. I got blast faxes on that pig a few years ago myself.

Does Mitch still have the Viper or did that go up in smoke as well.
Posted by TheStreet at 2010-09-01 12:11
He smoked that too - - I still hear Mitch cracks it up at the 5 once a week - - He calls himself Mitch Ross now in an attempt to keep regulators from knowing he is really Mitch White - - supposedly he can't even go to his house in Point Roberts for fear of being arrested - - waiting to hear about his new deal so we can short it too.

David Baines is so 20th Century, who cares about his petty rantings?
Posted by stagnant career at 2010-09-02 10:51
What about Scott Marshall? why is he hiding?
Posted by JuicyC at 2010-09-06 15:25
Good Luck Mr. Lawson! David Baines does not deserve a voice or a column, The Vancouver Sun should have fired him years ago, he has abcolutely no credibility. I've also been on the receiving end of his spiteful and malicious column, chose to let it go, as I'm sure many others have, but am behind you 100 %.
Posted by Crystal Springs at 2010-09-07 15:10
Not so....crystal springs, Bains is the real deal, he will be busy for many more years exposing the crap sold as shares in yarn spun enterprises. Security fraud has become a tolerated profession, hold your nose and make a lot of money attitude. We the people that pay for this BS..need a thousand David Baines types to cleanse the financial system...Make way for honest BIZ.>

Who is hiding? The record Sockeye run is providing a real use for the paper I print.

Finally, its Ed Larceny's turn to fess up.....the LARCENY man....
Posted by Poopsie at 2010-09-11 10:37
I agree - Baines should retire. He constantly re-hashes stories from years gone by (some many many years ago)to fill out his column. I don't even bother reading his stories anymore.

Without Baines we'd all be bigger mushrooms than we are already...kept in the dark and fed a lot of sh*t....don't go away Baines...you are a Merchant of the Truth and we LOVE you!!!! My friends wanna send you lotsa ink so you NEVER run out.......

It's about time for Baines to give hang up the pen. Boring and all small fry reporting next to the scams in NY and on Amex. It's almost like "tabloid" reporting by him now.
