The Financial Post reports in its Wednesday edition the chief financial officer of WestJet Airlines is leaving the airline after eight years to join another Calgary company. The Post's Kristine Owram writes Vito Culmone's last day will be May 29. WestJet said Tuesday it will immediately begin searching for a replacement.
WestJet's shares fell sharply after the announcement before ending the day at $29.66, down 53 cents.
"Vito has played a significant role in the growth and financial stability of our company for the past eight years and will certainly be missed," WestJet chief executive officer Gregg Saretsky said in a statement. WestJet did not disclose where Mr. Culmone is going, but said it will be announced shortly.
CP Rail, whose chief financial officer Bart Demosky is also stepping down in May, said Mr. Culmone is not joining the railway.
