The Successful Investor, in the September, 2015, issue, refreshes its buy of TransCanada Corp., recently $48. The Investor said buy 34 times from January, 1995, to August, 2015, at prices ranging from $12 to $53. Assuming a $1,000 investment for each of the 34 buys, the $34,000 position is now worth $57,936. In this brief update, the Investor says TransCanada has made some changes to its proposed Energy East pipeline, which would carry oil from Alberta to refineries in Eastern Canada. If regulators approve, Energy East could start operating in 2020. TransCanada recently adjusted the pipeline's route and dropped its plans to build a related export terminal in Quebec. That might possibly soothe environmental and political opposition, but will definitely raise the project's cost, which is already $12-billion. TransCanada has spent $700-million so far. The stock remains a buy.
