Telus buys 20% of Alithya IT, consulting firm

2015-01-28 09:09 ET - News Release

Mr. Benoit Simard reports

TELUS ACQUIRES 20 PER CENT STAKE IN ALITHYA, A QUEBEC-BASED BUSINESS IT CONSULTING FIRM

Telus Corp. has acquired a 20-per-cent stake in Alithya, a Quebec-based information technology and consulting service provider with a Canadian and international scope. Drawing on each firm's respective expertise, the two companies have struck a long-term strategic partnership where each will offer suites of information and communication technology services, with a focus on managed infrastructure solutions, to their business customers.

"This partnership will address the business community's growing demand for managed infrastructure solutions centred on intelligent data centres and cloud-based technologies. This investment is part of a series of partnerships Telus developed over the past three years to enhance our information technology offer and better support our customers in achieving their technology transformation objectives," said Benoit Simard, vice-president, business markets, at Telus.

As a result of this partnership, the two companies will consolidate their expertise, with 94 employees from Telus's professional services team joining Alithya in the coming weeks. Alongside Alithya's team of skilled advisors spread across nine Canadian and three French offices, they will create a single, consolidated team of nearly 600 seasoned consultants. For its part, Telus will retain those professional services team members specializing in the provision of leading-edge expertise on application and managed infrastructure solutions, specifically managed cloud computing, hosting and portal solutions.

"We are proud to partner with a Canadian leader of Telus's calibre, with the resulting enhancement of our service offer to our business customers," said Paul Raymond, Alithya president and chief executive officer. "This agreement represents the next logical step in the close business relationship we have enjoyed with Telus for many years, and we are proud to put our joint expertise to work for the benefit of our customers."

This agreement speaks to Telus's commitment to always put its customers first and to provide its business customers with enhanced agility, an enriched range of integrated services, and access to a seasoned multidisciplinary team to support them in all of their IT initiatives.
