QSolar Launches Unique and Proprietary Solar Box and Portable Power Plant Range of Products

Calgary, Alberta (FSCwire) - QSolar Limited (CSE:QSL, FSE:Q2O) (“QSolar” or the “Corporation”) announces that it has completed the development, field-testing, and has commenced manufacturing of its proprietary portable SB-2 solar box. QSolar is also pleased to announce the introduction of heli-portable, skid mount or stationary HLP power plant units. The HLP power plants are available in 4KWh, 10KWh, and18KWh configurations in a self-contained durable unit to provide transportable solar, AC mains power, with sufficient capacity to run a medium size house as well as large tools, and can replace diesel generators without any fuel costs, noise, or pollution. This truly unique range of specialty products incorporates QSolar’s proprietary ultra-thin, ultra-light solar panels utilizing the distinct advantages of our proprietary trade secret Spraytek99 technology. The introduction of QSolar’s latest products is the result and culmination of approximately five years of research and development of the Spraytek technology and processes.

The SB-2 is a highly versatile, ultra-thin, ultra-light, high efficiency portable solar powered unit, designed primarily for the mass retail market. Test marketing will be undertaken initially in the U.S. market. The SB-2 is one of four solar boxes with available powers that will be offered in this specialty product range. The models in the SB specialty product range have also been designed and priced for worldwide organizations that specialize in emerging countries that have minimal or no power source. The SB solar boxes open up new applications in the emerging lucrative global solar market. Volume third party manufacturing will commence after the U.S test marketing and it is anticipated that the initial trial shipment will occur prior to the end of September 2014.

Features of the SB Solar Box

The unit is designed to power multiple devices at the same time, with duration of up to 24 hours. It can provide power to high luminance LED lamps, power the full range of smart phones and tablets, and can also power other small DC devices like fans, portable TVs and other portable camping equipment.

This multifunction solar portable unit incorporates many unique features such as the detachable solar panel that comes with a separate stand. The solar panel can be placed outside remotely while the box is placed inside a house, RV, camp or beach. The removable solar panel can also be placed on a stand which is included in the box to obtain maximum sunlight.

The unique features of QSolar proprietary panels and technology are now applied in the production of these unique new specialty high margin products. The unit weight is 2.2 Kg (4.8lbs), with dimensions of 326mm x 276mm x 47mm (12.8”x10.8”x1.8”), thus offering a unique power to weight ratio, and making it highly portable. Other features include:

  • Unbreakable, detachable ultra-thin, ultra-light high efficiency panel.
  • 3mm (0.11”) thickness.
  • High capacity lightweight lithium polymer 12V, 10Ah battery.
  • Multiple sockets for DC devices, and USB sockets.

The truly unique QSolar portable transportable HLP range of specialty power plant products incorporating QSolar’s proprietary technology utilizing its ultra-thin, ultra-light solar panels, can pack up to 2.5KW of solar power to provide up to18KWh capacity in the self-contained units.

The HLP-4KWh, HLP-10KWh and HLP-18KWh can provide heli-portable or skid trailer mounted transportable solar, has AC mains power, with sufficient capacity to replace diesel generators without any fuel costs, noise, or pollution. This range of products is designed for consumer or commercial applications in emergency, or as a continuing power source in remote areas. The various sizes of portable HLP power plants are also sufficient to provide basic power to a medium size house or large power tools and equipment.

Features of the HLP Power Plants

Due to the primary commercial applications of the portable HLP power plants, the development of this specialty product range is conducive to utilizing QSolar’s proprietary Spraytek99 technology and its extreme durability. The portable features of this product range cannot be manufactured with traditional glass panels due to transportation and environmental issues related to weight versus the power output and the risk of breakage of traditional glass solar panels. Due to physical constraints of the portability and the self-contained unit size, it is not possible that 2.5KW of traditional glass power panels can fit into a portable of this size and configuration. As for weight, the average thickness of the frame of a glass solar panel is approximately 45mm (1.8in.”), compared to the QSolar ultra-thin panels with a thickness of approximately 3mm (0.12in.”). Other features include:

  • Unbreakable, detachable ultra-thin, ultra-light high efficiency array of panels.
  • Portable unit weight of 4 KWh - 250Kg (550lb).
  • Unit dimensions of 1420mm x1100mm x 765mm (55.7” x 43.3” x 30.1”).
  • Durable container unit made of FDA approve waterproof LLDPE (Linear Low Density Polyethelene).
  • Heli-portable clips for attachment.
  • Forklift friendly for skid and or trailer mount.

“QSolar’s two additional new specialty product lines above are examples of the unique features, flexibility, and capabilities of the QSolar technology. Development of off-grid solar products will enable QSolar to enter into this emerging solar sector where previously these solutions and markets are non-existent, inadequate, or the applications deemed to be impossible with standard glass solar panel technology. These new off-grid emerging markets that QSolar is targeting have no competition, are potentially very large as no solutions exist, and have extremely attractive margins than the traditional markets,” stated Mr. Andreas Tapakoudes, Chief Executive Officer of QSolar.

“In addition to its mass market products including the QSS, QSF and Desert Ready solar panel, QSolar now has and is continuing to develop a range of specialty products including its QSF flexible solar panel available in multiple sizes, QDrive solar powered golf car accessory kit, portable range of solar boxes, and portable HLP power plants in three configurations. QSolar is in various stages of development and testing of additional products: to compete in the thin film technology sector, for the recreational vehicle industry, and for solar commercial drones. It is expected that these products will be introduced for field or marketing testing in the next few months, and all which incorporate the distinct advantages of our proprietary Spraytek99 technology,” added Mr. Tapakoudes.

It is expected that introduction of these various specialty products will be accomplished through direct sales, licensing, co-manufacturing and third party manufacturing, partnerships or combinations thereof contingent on the industry sector and product offering.
