Former Site C manager Kent Peyton, who is suing Petrowest Corp. in the Supreme Court of British Columbia for wrongful dismissal, lost his job after two incidents at the dam, according to a court filing. In one of the incidents, he was in a physical altercation with a construction superintendent. In another, he is accused of verbally abusing a project consultant.
The accusations come in response to a wrongful dismissal suit that Mr. Peyton filed against Petrowest and Peace River Hydro Partners on Oct. 4, 2017. He claimed that he lost his job (which paid him $854,000 per year) after a disagreement over safety. He said that he tried to have crews working in a watertight pit move from an unsafe location, but ended up having an argument with a subordinate instead. After that argument, he was fired in a manner that he described as humiliating, callous and insensitive.
