The Investment Reporter, in its May 15, 2015, issue, refreshes its buy of Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc., recently $39.52. The Reporter said buy 23 times from Dec. 19, 1995, to Feb. 13, 2015, at prices ranging from $33.11 to $207.10 (the stock split 2 for 1 on Aug. 9, 2004, and 3 for 1 on May 17, 2007, and Feb. 14, 2011). A $1,000 investment for each of the 23 buys is now worth $91,093. Potash Corp. earned $370-million or 44 cents a share in the first quarter of 2015 (all figures in U.S. dollars). This was up from $340-million or 40 cents a share last year. Higher prices and lower costs in the potash segment more than offset lower nitrogen sales volumes and Saskatchewan's higher potash taxes. Potash Corp. recently cut its full-year guidance because of the higher taxes, and now expects to earn between $1.75 and $2.05 a share in 2015. The company remains optimistic about its outlook, however, because of strong global potash demand. The Reporter adds that Asians rising from poverty should increase demand for crops and, in turn, fertilizers. Potash Corp. will likely earn $2.76 (Canadian) a share in 2016. It pays a dividend of $1.85 (Canadian) a share for an attractive yield of 4.7 per cent. Buy.
