Jay Taylor, in the April 10, 2015, edition of Gold, Energy & Tech Stocks, refreshes his buy of Orvana Minerals Corp., recently 37 cents. Mr. Taylor said buy twice -- on Jan. 17, 2013, at 99 cents and on Feb. 13, 2015, at 44 cents. Assuming a $1,000 investment for each of the two buys, the $2,000 position is now worth $1,214. Mr. Taylor says Orvana has considerable potential to increase its production. In fiscal 2014, the company produced 84,000 ounces of gold and 21 million pounds of copper, representing a 4-per-cent and 18-per-cent increase, respectively, from 2013. In the first quarter of 2015, Orvana earned $738,000, and ended the quarter with $20.4-million in cash and $3.5-million of debt. It produced 22,195 ounces of gold, 135,305 ounces of silver and seven million pounds of copper at an all-in cash cost of $949 per ounce of gold equivalent. Separately, the company recently appointed its CFO, Daniella Dimitrov, as the new CEO and president. Ms. Dimitrov has a background in mergers and acquisitions Mr. Taylor notes, and intends to use that experience to potentially acquire some less fortunate explorers. He concludes that right now is the best of times for companies with money, and Orvana is one of them.
